The future is safe at Heras Temporary Fencing. Sustainable entrepreneurship in the land of mobile fencing

Every one of our “People” answered “Planet” when we asked them what they, as an organization, would like to focus on more. It is wonderful that corporate social responsibility comes from our very own people at Heras Mobile Fencing & Security. It’s another thing to actually try to turn these words into actions. How do we do this?

Heras-Climate-Aware.pngOur offices are energy-neutral, we only use transport that complies with the EURO6 standard, we support local projects, and the lighting in our factories is all LED lighting. We are the frontrunners in the world of mobile fencing when it comes to keeping our carbon footprint as small as possible. This isn’t a sprint; it’s a marathon to benefit our planet. But we’re far from the finish line yet.

There’s still a lot to do in Production

Every day, we’re confronted with the question, “what is our company’s and our products’ impact on the planet?” We are aware that Production is the major polluter. We can and must take action here.

There are things that we can already be proud of, like the fact that many of our products (including the Noise Control Barrier and mobile fence footing) are manufactured using recycled materials. We use geothermal heat systems to heat our offices. We also use green energy and we recently installed high-speed roll-up doors to keep as much heat inside as possible, which means that we keep our energy consumption lower.

But we’re far from the finish line yet. For example, we weld a lot, which uses quite a lot of energy. We are currently researching if we can adapt this somehow in the future to save energy.

Transporters’ lorries that don’t comply with the requirements shouldn’t even bother coming

Our “People” are also encouraged to put their money where their mouths are when it concerns the “Planet”. Don’t print if you don’t need to, do ride your bike to work, do separate waste... sometimes, you just have to “do it”! We ask them to contribute ideas as well. Naturally, this is always a little difficult, but the drive is there inside the organization!

We require a lot from our suppliers and other partners, including when it comes to safety! Transporters who show up with lorries that don’t meet our benchmark for safety can turn right around and leave. This isn’t always easy, but they eventually understand why.

Suppliers must also comply with our CO2 and safety requirements. Together, we show the rest of the world just how important the environment and safety are to us, and we encourage others to take it just as seriously as we do.

The future is in safe hands at Heras MF&S.

To be the most future- and climate-resilient outdoor security provider there is.
To be a completely CO2-neutral company by 2021.
Ambitious goals, but we’re well on the way!

We are also one of the 400 Dutch companies to hold a Lean and Green Personal Mobility Award. Holders of this award make a commitment to the Dutch Ministry for Infrastructure and the Environment to reduce their CO2 emissions by at least 20% within five years.

Like I mentioned, we’re far from the finish line yet. But “People for Planet” is definitely applicable at Heras Mobile Fencing and Security. We pay a great deal of attention to our people, and in turn, our people pay a great deal of attention to our planet. We have to take good care of our planet. So let’s get started as soon as possible!
